It is an often overworked cliché that employees are the most important asset of the business, but in the case of Glendinning this is driven by the family culture instilled by the founding partners from the beginning.
Not only is Glendinning a family business in the sense that it remains owned by one family and family members still work for the firm including successive generations. Indeed, there are multiple instances of two generations of family working within the company.
Everyones’ health and safety is an overarching priority, so that every employee goes home safe and well and the company operates to high industry standards to support that goal. An individuals wellbeing is also important and the company offers trained mentors in mental health and free access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
Without the commitment and skill of our employees, Glendinning would not be able to deliver its products and services to you. Our high level of investment in training ensures quality and service excellence as well as helping to keep our workplaces safe. We promote fairness, inclusion and respect in all activities.
The future development of young people will help sustain our industry and we operate a highly successful apprentice scheme. Over the years we have maintained a very strong involvement with South Dartmoor Community College, we sponsor youth development projects at Newton Abbot Rugby Club and we regularly entertain visitors to the quarry - from pupils at local schools to undergraduate engineers and geologists who come to study the Devonian limestone formation of Linhay Hill quarry to practising engineers and local professional associations.
